Alternative Investments Accounting & Finance Associate
BCV Asset Management is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance and Accounting Associate to support our Alternatives investment team. This is a newly created role, critical in maintaining accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency across alternative asset strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting and finance, excellent communication skills, and a passion for data-driven decision-making within alternative investments.
Reporting To: Luke Campbell, Head of the Alternative Investments an Portfolio Manager
Educational Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Accounting and Finance, or related field. CPA or CFA candidates preferred but not required.
Tasks, Role & Responsibilities
Reporting:
Maintain and oversee detailed tracking of current holdings, providing regular reporting on portfolio metrics segmented by sector and strategy.
Ensure data accuracy and timely delivery of financial reports to relevant stakeholders.
Data Processing & Administration:
Utilize Cobalt (or similar software) for sophisticated data processing and administration.
Manage data integrity and workflow automation to support efficient financial management.
Capital Calls, Cash Management & Raise Cash Tasks:
Handle capital call notifications and coordinate cash management activities.
Communicate directly with banks and external vendors to set up and ensure timely payment processing.
Fee Strategy Documentation:
Document and manage fee structures and strategies, maintaining clear and organized records in collaboration with relevant teams.
Maintain compliant documentation and records according to firm policies.
Accounting for NAV and Audits:
Support monthly Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations and ensure accuracy in financial statements.
Assist with the annual audit process, working closely with auditors and internal teams to provide internal valuation models and necessary documentation.
Investment Research:
Conduct preliminary due diligence on new investment strategies when time permits, providing valuable insights to the investment team.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required.
Effective communication skills to liaise with internal or external stakeholders.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel including modeling and data analysis.
Penchant for finance, especially within alternative asset management, is highly desirable.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Familiarity with financial software such as Cobalt is an advantage.
