Accounting Assistant
Reporting to Joan Presto - Controller, you will take ownership of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable operations, support accounting activities across several entities, and refine bookkeeping processes and systems to drive greater accuracy and operational efficiencies.
Educational Requirement:
Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent work experience preferred.
Tasks, Role & Responsibilities
Process high volumes of vendor invoices, execute payments, and record related journal entries promptly and accurately.
Prepare and pay miscellaneous employee expenses, reconcile corporate credit card statements.
Manage payables and receivables across multiple entities.
Complete bank and other account reconciliations and support month-end close activities.
Prepare and remit GST filings and assist with tax-related documentation as required.
Track and monitor expenses to support ad hoc reporting requests, and provide timely, actionable information to assist decision-making and operational improvements.
Support the operational processes of the quarterly management fee updates and calculations.
Data entry, including updates to our financial services platforms.
Special project work as well as other duties from time to time as this role evolves.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
At least 2 years of hands-on experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage high transaction volumes across multiple entities.
Proficiency with general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close tasks.
Experience in Accounting and data analysis
Experience with GST filing.
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Competence in Microsoft Office Suite with savviness in Excel.
Proficiency with Google platforms, QuickBooks (or other accounting software), Microsoft Dynamics (Engage CRM base), and/or SAP applications.
Investment Portfolio Management knowledge is a strong asset.
